Helium is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, inert gas. It is the second lightest and second most abundant element in the observable universe, being present at about 24% of the total elemental mass. Helium’s low boiling point makes it useful for cooling applications, and it is relatively rare on Earth.
M3 Helium operates three wells in the Fort Dodge area — Rost 1‑26, Rost 2-26 and the nearby Brobee disposal well. Independent analysis has established helium concentrations at 5.1 per cent. For context, concentrations of around 0.3 per cent are typically considered economic, making Fort Dodge a potentially significant opportunity based on both helium content and reservoir pressure.
Mendell has expanded its leased position, creating further capacity to drill prospectively similar wells across the region.
M3 Helium also has an interest in five producing wells in its Hugoton North Play project. These wells are situated around Garden City in south-western Kansas and are all within or near the region’s gathering network. The network connects to the Jayhawk gas processing plant near the town of Ullyses, and is owned and operated by Scout Energy Partners
